Dual Row IMS

IMS Retrofit and IMS Solution intermediate shaft bearing upgrades for Porsche Boxster 986 and Porsche 911 996 Models with original dual row bearing

Although the original 5204 dual row IMS bearing used in 1997 through 1999 Porsche Boxster and 911 engines and some 2000 to 2001 models is less failure prone than the later single row IMS bearing, these bearings can and do fail and need to be replaced as part of regular scheduled maintenance. The dual row bearing might have double the load capacity, but it is still a wear item and needs to be changed out. LN Engineering's IMS Retrofit and IMS Solution intermediate shaft bearing upgrades replace the problematic sealed ball bearing installed by the factory that can fail catastrophically. IMS bearing issues don't decrease with age and mileage, so it is just a matter of time before your original ims bearing fails requiring your M96 engine to be rebuilt or replaced. The IMS Retrofit replaces the original sealed dual row bearing with an open ceramic hybrid ball bearing with a service interval of 6 years or 75,000 miles (whichever comes first). The IMS Solution provides a permanent fix for the IMS bearing problem by backdating the M96's intermediate shaft bearing to an oil pressure fed plain bearing like an aircooled Porsche 911 Mezger engine. Regardless of which LN IMS bearing replacement you choose, our ims bearing solutions have been used and trusted worldwide since 2008.
