LN Engineering MY06-08 Intermediate Shaft Flange Reseal Kit including our LN Billet IMS Flange. Direct replacement for factory 06-08 IMS flange. This kit provides you a new IMS flange along with all the required seals and hardware to install the new flange. Don't forget to change your rear main seal while you are in there and always use a Genuine Porsche RMS.

With model year 2006 through 2008, a larger IMS bearing was used. However, the IMS flange housing bore diameter was not increased, which prevents replacement of the bearing without complete dis-assembly of the engine. No need to take drastic measures like bore out your engine case to remove the original bearing or install an oil feed. Keep reading to learn more.

The incidence of failure with a 2006-2008 M96 or M97 Engine as found in the Boxster, Cayman, and 911 that have the larger (but non-serviceable) IMS is highly unlikely. We would estimate about a 1% failure rate. However, this bearing can still be problematic.

When you have your clutch replaced, it’s best to have the grease seal removed off the original bearing. Since the IMS is located at the bottom of the engine and is submerged in oil, removing the grease seal will allow engine oil to better lubricate it. There is a black plastic seal on the front of the bearing – you would use a dental pick or something similar to pop the seal out of it’s groove. Just be sure not to drop it into the engine when you do remove it. Here is a short video on YouTube that shows how to remove the grease seal ron a ball bearing:
