Mahle Motorsports Porsche Pistons and Cylinders for Aircooled and Watercooled Porsche and VW Engines

Mahle Motorsport Porsche Pistons and CylindersLN Engineering is an authorized distributor for Mahle Motorsports complete Porsche program including Mahle's aircooled Porsche cylinders and Mahle Motorsport Porsche pistons for Porsche engines.

Through this partnership, NLA Porsche piston and cylinder sets that are no longer available are being reintroduced in response to customer demands, designed specifically for Porsche® air-cooled engines featuring Mahle Motorsports custom 2618-forged alloy pistons matching Nickies™ Cylinders.

LN Engineering Nickies cylinders feature billet aluminum construction for increased strength and ductility and have an ultra-hard, low friction nickel silicon carbide bore plating for reduced wear and increased longevity. Mahle Motorsports + Nickies™ piston and cylinders kits for Porsche 356 and 911 engines allow for tighter clearances, reduced wear on both the piston and bore, and quiet operation, providing true compatibility with no compromises.

LN Engineering also offers Mahle Motorsports piston and cylinder sets including Mahle cylinders for all aircooled Porsche engines as well as for Mahle pistons for watercooled Porsche engines including:

The Most Advanced Porsche Pistons For Your Porsche Engine

Mahle Motorsports Porsche PistonsMAHLE is an OE supplier to Porsche and the world's largest piston manufacturer, supplying both original equipment manufacturers and the specialty automotive aftermarket including the racing industry. MAHLE’s relationship with Porsche dates back to Porsche’s beginning and together they have developed some of the best competition and sports car engines ever designed and manufactured. MAHLE Motorsports North America has taken this extensive experience with Porsche engines to develop their performance Porsche piston and cylinder sets for aircooled and watercooled Porsche engines suitable for both street and racing.

Mahle Motorsports kits for both aircooled and watewrcooled Porsche engines are designed for high performance applications and are modern adaptations of the original or aftermarket kits, therefore there may be visual and physical differences between original Mahle and new replacement Porsche piston and cylinder kits when compared to originals sold by Porsche or Andial. These changes improve the performance, durability and longevity of these pistons and cylinders for Porsche engines.

Mahle Motorsports Porsche pistons and Nickies Porsche Cylinders are made for each other. All Mahle Motorsports piston sets for both aircooled and watercooled Porsche engines are machined to exacting tolerances with unmatched quality and consistency at Mahle's Motorsports division based in Fletcher, NC. Mahle Motorsport Porsche pistons are machined from both 4032 and 2618 forgings with narrower and shorter skirts to reduce weight and friction and incorporate larger valve reliefs for bigger valves and performance camshafts, as-advertised compression ratios, and unmatched performance and durability in an aftermarket piston, exceeding OEM requirements. Mahle Motorsports Porsche pistons are first coated with a phosphate dry film to protect the pin bores from galling and from micro-welding in the ring grooves. Next, Mahle's proprietary anti-friction Grafal® coating is applied to the piston skirts, adding cushioning that reduces noise and reduces friction and wear on both the piston and cylinder bore. Mahle Motorsports piston sets for Porsche engines include Mahle performance rings which are the most technically advanced high performance rings in the industry. Most Mahle Motorsports pistons for Porsche engines are now supplied with modern, thinner piston ring sets made from stronger and more durable materials, providing improve ring seal while further reducing friction and oil consumption. Driven by today's requirements for reduced oil consumption, lower friction, higher power output, and longer life, Mahle delivers the latest piston ring technology and all Mahle Motorsports Porsche piston and cylinder sets benefit from these combined technologies.

Aircooled Porsche Cylinders

LN Engineering Nickies Porsche Cylinders for use with Mahle Motorsport Porsche PistonsThe Porsche cylinders included in Mahle Motorsports aircooled Porsche pistons and cylinders are produced and machined to original equipment tolerances, designed to provide increased performance, durability and longevity.

Some Mahle Motorsport Porsche piston and cylinder sets are available as either a slip-in or machine-in cylinder design featuring OE Mahle cylinders or LN Engineering's billet aluminum Nickies cyilnders. The slip-in Porsche cylinders are designed to fit the standard case opening or register with a larger than stock bore size, allowing for an increase in displacement and performance. Machine-in Porsche cylinders require the engine case be machined for a larger spigot diameter to allow for the oversized cylinder to be installed. The machine-in big bore Porsche cylinders with the larger spigot diameter are preferable for turbo applications, high rpm, or competition use engines.

Where Porsche original equipment Mahle cylinders are no longer available, Mahle Motorsports aircooled piston and cylinder kits include LN Engineering Nickies cylinders that feature billet aluminum construction for increased strength and ductility and have an ultra-hard, low friction nickel silicon carbide bore plating for reduced wear and increased longevity. All LN Engineering's Porsche 911 Nickies cylinders also feature superior cooling with increased fin count and surface area as well as knock sensor bosses (shown right). When paired with Mahle Motorsports pistons and Mahle rings, Mahle Motorsports +  Nickies™ Porsche piston and cylinder sets are the best performance upgrade available for your aircooled Porsche 356 or Porsche 911 engine.

Please note that Porsche piston and cylinder are sold either a slip-fit or machine-in; slip-fit do not require machining of the case where machine-in Porsche piston and cylinder kits require the case to be opened up for larger spigot diameters. Porsche 911 3.6 964/993 piston and cylinder kits require early 964 cylinder heads to be updated to accept later 993 style cylinders. Porsche 356 machine-in 91mm sets require the cylinder heads registers to be opened up in addition to the crankcase.
