Type 4 Store Camshaft and Lifter Kits for Porsche 914 912E and VW Type 2/4 Engines

All our camshaft kits include proprietary camshaft grinds not available anywhere else other than from the Type 4 Store. Our Type 4 camshafts were all designed and tested by Jake Raby for use in Aircooled Technology’s performance aircooled VW Type 4, Porsche 914/912E, and Type 2 engine builds. We do not sell camshafts by themselves – bare minimum we supply a camshaft kit with matched lifters, cam gear, and bolts to ensure compatibility with all components. We also do not offer any camshaft kits using hydraulic lifters – all kits include solid lifters.

Popular Type 4 Store Camshaft Grinds

Our most popular grinds shown below are featured in our engine rebuild kits:

9590 – Camper special kits and the Porsche 2056-120 kit. This is the only camshaft that works with stock FI, but it will also work with carbs. Recommended compression ratio 8.0:1.

9520 – Porsche 2270-175, Porsche 2563-190, and VW conversion 2563-190. Optimized to work with carbs but can be used with aftermarket EFI with independent runner throttle bodies. Best paired with theLE200 cylinder heads. Recommended compression ratio 9.5:1.

9500 – VW Conversion 2270-145. Optimized to work with carbs but can be used with aftermarket EFI with independent runner throttle bodies. Best paired with theRS cylinder heads. Recommended compression ratio 9.5:1.

9530 – VW Conversion 2056-120. Optimized to work with carbs but can be used with aftermarket EFI with independent runner throttle bodies. Recommended compression ratio 8.5:1. Alternatively, the 9130 grind can be used for a slightly higher revving 2056 and allows for a bit more top end HP when paired with upgradedRS cylinder heads.

Target compression ratios will vary depending depending on many variables; our recommendations are rough guidelines. It is up to the engine builder to set the compression ratio appropriate for the application and to tune the engine.
