Designed for Porsche Engines By Industry Leading Engine Specialists

PCA: Driven Racing Oil's Porsche Boxster project is rolling test bed for oil development.
Developed in and for the M96/M97 engine for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models as a collaboration between Driven Racing Oils, Flat 6 Innovations, and LN Engineering.

We recommend oil changes every 6 months or 5000 miles, whichever comes first, using Driven DT40 engine oil.

Formulated Specifically For Modern Sports Car Engines

DT40 utilizes advanced synthetic base oils to provide high temperature and high shear protection for high output performance and turbocharged engines, as well as European sports car engines with and without variable valve timing. DT40 reduces oil consumption by limiting oil vaporization and foaming. Ideal for modern German, Italian and British sports car engines, and is compatible with E85 and water/methanol injection. Viscosity typical of 5W-40. An excellent upgrade over any factory Porsche approved A40 oil.

Increased Moly Content

Typically, most European oils have 0 to 50ppm of moly. Driven DT40 has over 300 ppm of moly in the form of MoDTC. Research has shown that increases in ZDDP and moly content can help reduce wear (bore scoring) in engines with hypereutectic bores, like Alusil and Lokasil.

Driven DT40 is recommended for engines requiring an A40 Porsche approved oil. Please note that Driven DT40 does not carry factory Porsche A40 approval but meets or exceeds the requirements for any engine requiring an A40 oil. For direct injected engines or those requiring a Porsche C40 spec oil, please use Driven DI40.

Note: We recommend DT40 in place of Driven HR6 Synthetic Hot Rod 10w40 oil.

Driven DT oils do not meet current ILSAC GF-6A, GF-6B, and API SP standards and is not recommended for vehicles with particulate filters or where emission system or LSPI protection is required; Driven DI oils are recommended for these applications. Safe for use on vehicles with catalytic converters.

Description

Details

LN Engineering, aside from offering many products and services for both aircooled and watercooled Porsche models, devotes considerable resources to continued research and development, and most recently, partnering with Raby Engine Development again to develop Porsche-model specific lubricants.*

For years we have tested many lubricants by various manufacturers to ensure we are offering our customers the best protection for their aircooled and watercooled engines, but now, we can offer the first oils specifically developed to meet our requirements that has been tested in our aircooled and watercooled engines! LN Engineering proudly offers the complete line of Driven lubricants and automotive fluids. In development for several years, starting February 2012 we will now offer DT40, a high zinc formulation for modern European Sports Cars in a 5w40 viscosity, specifically engineered for street use superior to any oil LN Engineering has previously used or recommended and has been thoroughly tested by Flat 6 Innovations and Jake Raby, coinciding with their joint development of the M96 and M97 engine platform. Additionally, for aircooled models, we now offer DT50, a high zinc formulation for older aircooled engines in a 15w50 viscosity, again specifically tested by Aircooled Technology, another Raby Enterprises company.

Both DT40 and DT50 are 100% fully synthetic motor oils based on group 4 and group 5 base oils with a proprietary additive package developed exclusively for Driven by Lubrizol and is not sold or marketed under any other name or brand. So how does Driven stand up to the competition? Look below at the results from Lubrizol on the KRL test (CEC L45-A-99), which in fact is one of the most rigorous lubricant tests possible to carry out:

For vehicles where DT40 is used on the street, for track use Driven only recommends use of their XP9 race oil, specifically developed to resist thinning at the higher temperatures experienced by the M96 engine and also has superior foaming and aeration control, leading to improved oil pressure on the track and less strain on the AOS. Driven offers complete engine lubrication solution including assembly grease and break-in oils, developed to provide the best protection possible for your engine and together offers the only lubricants specifically developed and tested for this target market. Driven BR (break-in oil) is used by Driven Racing to break-in and dyno all their engines, this petroleum oil provides optimum levels of zinc and phosphorus for flat-tappet engines. The additive package promotes ring seal and provides maximum protection available for cams and lifters during initial break-in and does not require additional additives.  *For Porsche approved lubricant we use and recommend Motul 8100 X-Cess 5w40. Driven DT40 is also available special order in a 55 gallon drum (part number 02420) by calling LN Engineering at 815-472-2939.
