Driven Engine Oils

What makes DRIVEN products different? Driven Racing Oils are formulated specifically for all-out race and high performance engines. In simple terms, DRIVEN products are unique because we always put the โ€œMotor ahead of the Moleculeโ€.
Competition drives innovation. The Driven Racing Oil brand was originally created to advance engine and driveline lubricant performance in professional racing engines, but today our innovations extend beyond the racetrack to the street and more.

Driven Racing Oil delivers specialty lubricants designed to meet the requirements of your specialty application. For example, Driven pioneered the development of break-in oils, which provide the chemistry needed for initial break-in of a new engine. All our products provide unique formulas developed with the application in mind first. Because we always put the โ€œmotor ahead of the moleculeโ€, Driven keeps things in the proper order. Motor oil is for the motor, not the other way around. Our product development team looks at the engine and how it is used; then we design application specific products using a โ€œzero compromiseโ€ approach that delivers a measurable performance advantage.

Oil Additives and Oil Viscosity – Balance Is Best

Too much of one thing can hurt a lubricant. Having the right balance lets every component do it’s job without hindering the other. Lake Speed Jr explains it all. All Driven Engine Oil formulations are balanced to provide a balance of wear protection and increased performance. There is no need to add oil additives of any kind when using Driven motor oils. Likewise, running a thicker oil than needed won’t provide any added protection, so having the right formulation as far as what additives are used and in what amount as well as in the proper viscosity will determine how an oil will work for any given application. Never forget the 4 R’s – the right oil, in the right amount, in the right place, at the right time.

Keep your oil cool, clean, and dry

We all know that contaminants such as dirt and moisture are bad for your engine and your oil. Likewise, too low or too high of oil temperatures are also bad. Using a quality oil filter like a Napa Gold or Wix oil filter is a good first start. Driven recommends changing your oil filter between oil changes to reduce contaminants in your engine and also extend the life of the oil. As moisture is the enemy of your engine and oil, keeping the oil temperature between 180-220F is ideal to control moisture in your engine and reduce the formation of acids that break down oil additives. Every 20 degrees F over 220F significantly reduces oil life, so keep an eye on your oil temperature. Case in point, modern engines run hot – we have seen oil temperatures well over 220F and as high as 300F at the track.

Get the Facts Straight on Oils

When you know the facts, you can make informed decisions about your oil. There is lots of misinformation on the internet and marketing hype. We are firm believers in Driven oils. We worked closely with Driven to develop their DT40 and DT50 oils, using extensive used oil analysis on these oils in water-cooled and aircooled Porsche engines to prove Driven works. But don’t take our word for it – analyze your oil every 6 months. By building trend data for your engine, you can evaluate the current health of the motor, how well the oil is protecting the engine, and can help to identify component failures well before they become catastrophic.
