Elring Curil T2 911.581 Sealing Compound 70ml Tube
$17.10
Elring Curil T2 is a permanently plastical (non-curing), solvent-free sealing compound (sealant) with excellent adhesion to sealing surfaces. As it contains no solvents, no airing time is required compared to Curil T or K2. Due to its high-temperature thermal and chemical resistance, it is particularly suitable as a universal sealant for complicated sealing joints and applications for easy dismantling in permanently hot conditions. Curil T2 has a temperature range of -55°C to +250°C (for 24h up to +270°C) and can seal gaps up to 0.2mm. Curil T2 is resistant to mineral oils (including additives), synthetic oils, lubricating grease, coolants, cold and hot water, salt water, cleaning agents, weak acids and alkalis, and fuels.
Please note that Curil T (911.580) has been replaced by Curil T2 (911.581); Curil T2 can also be used in place of Curil K2 per Elring.
Here are some recommendations for achieving an effective seal with Curil T2:
- Begin by thoroughly cleaning and removing any grease from the surface. Sealants like Curil T2 will not function properly if the sealing surfaces are not cleaned of old sealants or contaminants like oil or grease.
- Apply the Curil T2 sealant evenly, ensuring there are no gaps or inconsistencies.
- Tip: Utilize a brush or foam roller to evenly spread the Curil T2 sealant. Aim to apply a layer of the Curil T2 sealant that is at least 0.2 millimeters thick.
- After applying, promptly remove any excess sealant with a cloth. As with any sealant, do not use an excessive amount of Curil T as excess can and will squeeze out and end up in the engine.
Solvent-free Curil™ T2 offers the advantage of being reshaped multiple times, making it permanently pliable without undergoing any hardening process. This characteristic results in an immediate sealing effect upon application, eliminating the need for waiting or allowing it to air out. Furthermore, dismantling is straightforward, as the old sealant can be easily removed from the applied surface.
Curil™ T2 is particularly well-suited for the following applications:
- Surface sealing, such as flange connections or covers that require frequent opening and resealing due to maintenance schedules.
- It can be applied to all plastic surfaces, including PE, PP, PTFE, as well as materials prone to releasing plasticizers, such as EPDM, APTK, neoprene, butyl, insulating coatings, and foams.
When adhering to the specified maximum sealing gap and temperature range, Curil™ T2 proves to be a truly versatile sealing solution.
