Porsche OEM 986/996 Water Pump Kit with 160°F Low-Temperature Thermostat

Our complete Porsche water pump replacement kit fits applicable 1997–2004 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S (986) and 1999–2005 Porsche 911 Carrera (996) models with naturally aspirated M96-family engines. This includes the 2.5L, 2.7L, and 3.2L Boxster engines, as well as applicable 3.4L and 3.6L 996 Carrera engines. The 996 applications include Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, and Targa models. For 2005 model-year 911s, confirm whether the vehicle is a 996 or 997 before ordering.

LN Engineering’s 986/996 water pump kit (SKU 996-106-011-57-KIT) includes an OEM composite-impeller water pump, LN Engineering 160°F low-temperature thermostat, thermostat installation tool, serpentine drive belt, gaskets, and replacement mounting hardware. It is a convenient bundled solution for preventative cooling-system service.

We recommend replacing the water pump and thermostat approximately every 4–5 years or 48,000–60,000 miles, whichever comes first. A failing water pump can result in coolant loss, impeller debris, overheating, and potentially expensive engine damage.

Kit Includes

  • 996 106 011 57 – OEM Pierburg, Meyle, or Laso water pump with composite impeller, manufactured in Germany or Italy. No metal impellers. We inspect and repackage each pump to help ensure it arrives undamaged.
  • 996 106 340 54 – OEM water pump gasket.
  • 106-06.2 – LN Engineering thermostat installation tool.
  • 996 106 326 50 – OEM thermostat housing gasket.
  • 106-06 – LN Engineering 160°F low-temperature thermostat (replaces factory thermostat part number 996 106 013 59).
  • 996 102 151 66 – Contitech 6K 2115 serpentine drive belt for the stock crankshaft pulley. An alternate belt option is available for certain 5-inch FSI or RSS underdrive crank pulleys.
  • 900 378 013 01 – Genuine Porsche water pump bolts, M6 × 25 mm (quantity 5).
  • 900 378 177 01 – Genuine Porsche water pump bolts, M6 × 30 mm (quantity 2).
  • 900 378 030 01 – OEM thermostat housing bolts, M6 × 20 mm (quantity 4).

Important Fitment and Installation Notes

  • This kit is intended for the 986 Boxster/Boxster S and 996 Carrera generations. It is not interchangeable with the later 987 Boxster/Cayman or 997 Carrera water pump kits.
  • Does not fit Porsche 911 Turbo, GT2, or GT3 models.
  • Choose the appropriate serpentine belt option for the vehicle’s crankshaft pulley. If your Porsche has an aftermarket underdrive pulley, verify the pulley size and belt selection before ordering.
  • A coolant vacuum-fill tool is required for properly evacuating and refilling the cooling system. Follow the applicable Porsche cooling-system bleeding procedure.
  • If adding an optional coolant expansion tank, verify its part number and fitment before ordering. Expansion tank exchanges are subject to a 25% restocking fee and do not include free shipping.

Water Pump Warranty:Water pumps carry a 2-year/24,000-mile parts warranty offered by SSF Imported Auto Parts; the supplied OEM pump brand may be Pierburg, Meyle, or Laso.
