Designed for Porsche engines by industry leading engine specialists, Driven DT40 was developed in and for the M96/M97 engine for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models as a collaboration between Driven Oils, Flat 6 Innovations, and LN Engineering.

We recommend oil changes every 6 months or 5000 miles, whichever comes first, using Driven DT40 engine oil.

Formulated Specifically For Modern Sports Car Engines

Driven Racing Oils DT40 utilizes advanced synthetic base oils to provide high temperature and high shear protection for turbocharged, as well as European sports car engines with and without variable valve timing.

  • Driven DT40 reduces oil consumption by limiting oil vaporization and foaming.
  • Ideal for modern German, Italian and British sports car engines.
  • Driven DT40 is also compatible with E85 and water/methanol injection.
  • DT40 has a viscosity typical of 5W-40 and is an excellent upgrade over any factory Porsche approved A40 0w40 or 5w40 motor oil.

 

Increased Moly Content

Typically, most European oils that carry Porsche A40 approval have 0 to 50ppm of moly, tops. Driven DT40 has over 300 ppm of moly in the form of MoDTC. Research has shown that increases in ZDDP and moly content can help reduce wear (bore scoring) in engines with hypereutectic bores, like Alusil and Lokasil, as moly can bind to the aluminum walls where ZDDP cannot.

Driven DT40 is recommended for engines requiring an A40 Porsche approved oil. For direct injected engines or those requiring a C40 spec oil, please use Driven DI40 instead. Likewise, if you have bore scoring, we recommend switching to Driven DT50 for the extra film strength offered by the increased viscosity which along with the high moly content will extend the life of your scored engine.

Due to filter availability, we may substitute Mann ML1013, Mahle OC999, or Baldwin B31 oil filters for the Napa Gold 1042 / Wix 51042 filter and we may substitute Napa Gold 1215, Wix 51215, Mann W7015, Mahle OC1063, Hengst H319W, or Baldwin BT223 oil filters for the Napa Gold 1348 / Wix 51348 filter. The only Napa Gold filter we recommend is the one made by Mann-Hummel (Wix) made in Mexico or the USA
– do not use the Napa Gold made in China as they are not made by Mann-Hummel (Wix); purchasing your replacement oil filter from LN Engineering will ensure you receive the correct filter for your engine. We may substitute a suitable replacement filter other than a Napa Gold when needed. We do not recommend using the Napa Select or Platinum oil filters.
