Willhoit Auto Restoration's cars are often in the winner's circle at Porsche club concours events. While the cosmetic standards of our work are extremely high, they believe the real joy in owning a 356 is the driving experience. John Willhoit's goal in restoration is to provide you with a 356 that is not only stunning in appearance but also a pleasure to drive and use the way Dr. Porsche intended. Their goal has always been to be the "best" never the cheapest, and WR customers have come to expect and demand an extremely high level of quality and function from the cars they restore and products they offer.     WR Stock Replacement Cylinder Heads for Porsche 356 and Porsche 912 Engines

    Finally, an improved cast reproduction of the factory type 616 cylinder head used on Porsche 356 and 912 engines. No more fixing cracks, dealing with porosity, and resurrecting 50+ year old heat cycled original Porsche cylinder heads that will probably just crack again. These WR Stock Replacement Porsche 356 and 912 cylinder heads were developed and produced by Willhoit Auto Restoration. Based on 100% new castings, the WR cylinder head resolves the most common problems with a replacement cylinder head for Porsche 356 and 912 engines that looks and performs better than the original Porsche cylinder heads.

    WR Porsche 356 and 912 Stock Replacement Cylinder Head Features

    • WR Stock Replacement Porsche 356 and 912 Cylinder Heads are cast just like the original heads using a special alloy and heat treat process.
    • WR Cylinder Heads were extensively tested on the WR engine dyno and on the street to ensure superior performance, durability, and longevity.
    • The WR Cylinder Head design allows for increased air flow through the fins, improving cooling around the ports and chambers for a cooler running head that will produce more power.
    • The smaller NGK DR6EA plug is 12mm x ¾” reach and allows for much more material around the valves. The recommended spark plug is a commonly used plug size and is easily available. Four new plugs are supplied with each set of WR Porsche 356/912 cylinder heads.
    • The stainless steel 8mm stem valves are 38mm intake and 34mm exhaust and are installed using a 5 angle valve job. The guides are silicon-bronze alloy for excellent heat transfer and long life. Hardened valve seals are compatible with modern unleaded fuels. Port design is similar to original, but the use of the smaller valves and guides allows for improved flow (7% on intake, 3% on exhaust) than late model Porsche 356 or Porsche 912 cylinder heads.
    • Special hardened lash caps provide a large pad for the stock rocker arms. A set is included with each pair of WR Stock Replacement Porsche 356/912 cylinder heads.
    • Special bead lock chromoly retainers are matched to the double springs and are good for 7k RPM and lifts up to .525 without coil bind and is compatible with the most popular camshafts including our Torquer or Performer Porsche 356 and 912 camshafts.
    • The air injection bosses were retained to allow easy installation of a head temp sensor for EFI if converting to fuel injection.
    • The 61.0cc matched chambers have a 30-degree bevel cut to be compatible with the later factory and aftermarket piston and cylinder kits. Intake and exhaust ports are based on those found in Porsche 356 SC and Porsche 912 cylinder heads.
    • Testing on Willhoit Restoration's in-house Superflow 902S dyno shows an improvement over even the latest Porsche 356C/912 cylinder heads. Greater improvements can be found when compared to earlier Porsche 356 cylinder heads

The WR Stock Replacement Porsche 356 and 912 Cylinder Heads are a perfect upgrade for early and late 356 and 912 engines with displacements up to 1720cc. WR Stock Replacement Porsche cylinder heads are not sold individually or bare. WR Porsche 356 and 912 cylinder heads can optionally be opened up for 90mm or 91mm Nickies cylinders, modified for twin plugs, or ported upon request. Learn More

    The lowest profile deep sump on the market. Extends less than 2" below the engine and provides ample ground clearance for even lowered cars. Adds 1.3 quarts of oil to the system for added safety in cornering and high rpm. Fits perfectly on the engine and looks like it belongs there. Made from CNC 6061 aluminum, the two haves are sealed with an o-ring. Included in the kit are all the necessary gaskets, pick up extension tube and hardware for easy installation. Retains the original sump screen. Also includes an aluminum/magnet drain plug which is cross-drilled for safety wiring. Oil changes are easy and don't require removal of the bottom of the sump.
