Boxster Cayman 911 Pistons
Mahle Motorsports Pistons for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models with the M96 and M97 Engine
The original forged pistons used in Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models from 1999-2008 were supplied by Mahle for the 3.4, 3.6, and 3.8 liter M96 and M97 engines. However, that is where the similarities end. Mahle Motorsports forged 2618 pistons for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 engines are stronger and designed for use in reconditioned engine blocks that have been sleeved and work best with Nikasil plated bores. These Mahle piston sets include modern piston rings designed for use with Nikasil bores. Piston to cylinder clearance has been optimized for use with with LN Engineering Nickies cylinders sleeves; engines fitted with cast iron sleeves may require additional piston to cylinder clearance. Mahle Motorsports pistons for Boxster, Cayman, and 911 (996 and 997) engines are not compatible with the original Lokasil cylinder bores.
