  1. Bilt Racing Service BRS HPDE 2 Quart Accusump Universal Kit MY97-08 M96/M97

    The Accusump is the original automotive oil accumulator used to prevent oil starvation. The Accusump is connected to the pressure side of an engine's oiling system and is charged by the engines own oil pump. Its simple, efficient design revolves around a hydraulic piston separating an air pre-charge side and an oil reservoir side. On the oil side of the Accusump it has an outlet that goes into the engine's oiling system, controlled by a valve.

    The Accusump is designed collect pressurized oil from your engine and store it so it may be discharged later during low oil pressure surges to protect against engine damage during demanding racing conditions. After the oil pressure stabilizes, the piston inside the Accusump moves back and forth, pressurizing the Accusump until it equalizes with engine's oil pressure. The Electric Pressure Control Valve we use is for a discharge/refill of 35-40 PSI. These valves have the convenience of an electric valve for remote mounted units on daily drivers but with the rapid refill rate of a manual valve as required in racing. The E.P.C. valving will only allow the Accusump to discharge oil when the engine’s oil pressure drops below a predetermined level and only refill when the pressure rises above that level.

    The Bilt Racing HPDE Accusump kit is easy to install, requiring plumbing of only a single oil line. Our universal Accusump kit has everything you need to carry out a custom Accusump installation in your Boxster, Cayman, or 911, sans wiring or electrical pieces and includes:

    • Two quart Marine Accusump system
    • LN Engineering's Spin-On Full-Flow Oil Filter Adapter
    • Custom single input sandwich adapter (for easy one-line installation - fits standard 106-01 Spin On Oil Filter Adapter set up to accept a filter with 13/16-16 thread; billet 106-24.2 recommended)
    • 45 psi electronic valve, hose, and fittings

    Please note: Oil filter will sit approximately 1" lower than in the factory configuration. In conjunction with the installation of an Accusump, we recommend adding an X51 oil baffle and 997 oil return tubes for improved oil control and ensure scavenge oil is returned to the sump as quickly as possible and Driven XP9 Racing Oil; A sump guard is highly recommended.

    Alternatively, a two quart deep sump, part number 106-00.1 can be used to address oil starvation concerns in M96 and M97 engines which includes an X-51 style baffle, 997 oil return tubes, and anti-slosh tray for optimal oil control.

    When servicing your intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing, it's important to also replace your rear main seal (RMS). The part number has been superseded to an updated PTFE seal that is proven to resolve most leaks. We only recommend using the Genuine Porsche seal - stay away from all other replacement rear main seals. Products that claim to add more support to the crankshaft by adding another "bearing" falsely claim the weight of the dual mass flywheel is the reason for rear main seal leaks, when in fact engines that have been found to have chronic RMS leaks do in fact leaks because they were improperly machined from the factory, requiring engine replacement to correct this condition. This can be checked for using Porsche Tool 9699/1 or with precision measuring tools to ensure there is no more than 0.3mm of runout between the crankshaft and the housing bore into which the RMS is installed. It is also critical that the proper tools are used to install the PTFE seal, as if it is improperly handled or installed, it will fail to seal and will require replacement to correct any leaks as a result of misalignment or if installed to the incorrect depth.
