  1. Rear Main Seal (RMS) for MY97-08 M96/M97

    SKU: 106-21

    $44.01
When servicing your intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing, it's important to also replace your rear main seal (RMS). The part number has been superseded to an updated PTFE seal that is proven to resolve most leaks. We only recommend using the Genuine Porsche seal - stay away from all other replacement rear main seals. Products that claim to add more support to the crankshaft by adding another "bearing" falsely claim the weight of the dual mass flywheel is the reason for rear main seal leaks, when in fact engines that have been found to have chronic RMS leaks do in fact leaks because they were improperly machined from the factory, requiring engine replacement to correct this condition. This can be checked for using Porsche Tool 9699/1 or with precision measuring tools to ensure there is no more than 0.3mm of runout between the crankshaft and the housing bore into which the RMS is installed. It is also critical that the proper tools are used to install the PTFE seal, as if it is improperly handled or installed, it will fail to seal and will require replacement to correct any leaks as a result of misalignment or if installed to the incorrect depth. Genuine Porsche Rear Main Seal, 0PB 105 249. Replaces 997 101 212 00, 999 113 490 40. Learn More

  6. LN BRS M96 M97 Tandem Oil Scavenge Pump (Bank 1)

    SKU: 106-26.1

    $2,500.00

The LN Engineering / Bilt Racing Service Tandem Oil Scavenge Pump Kit protects Boxster, Cayman, and 911 Carrera M96 and M97 engines from oil starvation caused by centrifugal forces and lateral acceleration that causes engine oil to collect in the front area of the cylinder head, away from the original oil return pump. The result is that oil becomes trapped in the cylinder head and cannot be returned to the sump fast enough to ensure adequate oil supply to the oil pickup. Our tandem oil scavenge pump ensures that oil is scavenged properly under all driving conditions and returned to the sump. We recommend pairing with our 106-00.1 2 quart deep sump which includes our X51-style oil baffle and an anti-slosh plate (or our Accusump kit) to improve oil control in your engine to help prevent oil starvation common to Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 vehicles with the M96/M97 engine when tracked. As always, we highly recommend the use of Driven XP9 race oil when tracking your Boxster, Cayman, or 911 engine to provide superior proven protection for all oil lubricated internal engine components found in your M96 or M97 engine.

Price includes 106-26.3 custom braided flexible external oil line. Price per pump; pumps are bank specific - bank 1 (cylinders 1-3) is part number 106-26.1 and bank 2 (cylinders 4-6) is part number 106-26.2. Modification of your existing cam cover is required. Please note additional modifications may be required to fit this product to 996 and 997 engines; models with the factory tandem scavenge/vacuum pump will require an adequate vacuum source to feed the brake booster. It has also been reported that there may be clearance issues on 996 and 997 models with the tandem oil scavenge pump as the pump is taller than the original factory pump due to the added stage; our pump measures 1.625" tall from the tallest surface to the sealing o-ring face.

Does not fit Porsche 911 GT3, Turbo, or GT2 models.

WHEN REBUILDING AN M96 OR M97 ENGINE, THERE ARE MANY CONSIDERATIONS WHEN EVALUATING YOUR OPTIONS.

Re-ringing your M96 or M97 engine isn't even an option for most rebuilds, however most engine builders re-ring engines after only doing a visual inspection of cylinder bores rather than measuring the cylinders for ovality and taper. It is a guarantee if the engine has not been sleeved, the bores are out of spec on even a "fresh" rebuild.

Through our exclusive Nickies sleeving process, we have overcome the d-chunk, slipped-sleeve, scoring, as well as taper and ovality issues associated with Porsche 986/996 and later 987/997 models.

The price shown is for all six cylinders on the block process. Service applies to M96.01, M96.02, M96.04, M96.03, M96.05, M96.21, M96.24, and M96.26 engines.

  14. 986/987 3.2 to 3.8, 996/997 3.4 to 3.8, 3.6 to 4.0 101mm Nickies Closed Deck Porsche Engine Conversion

    SKU: 106-996.101.CD

    $5,032.36
For many years, Porsche and other manufacturers have preferred the open deck configuration for their water-cooled, all-aluminum engines. This design enhances cooling, a critical benefit for high-performance engines, compared to the closed deck configuration. However, the open deck's main drawback is the potential for cylinder wall distortion and a decrease in overall rigidity, issues that have been notably problematic with the M96 engine. Nonetheless, LN Engineering's Nickies Porsche engine conversion employs a sleeving technique that maintains the open deck design for bore sizes up to 101mm, without sacrificing durability, strength, or reliability. This is achieved through the use of billet aluminum Nickies sleeves crafted from a special aluminum alloy. This material offers superior strength and thermal conductivity compared to standard factory cast aluminum cylinders. LN Engineering's Nickies cylinder liner sleeves have effectively addressed the weaknesses of the standard open deck design, boasting a successful history of nearly two decades with about 250 engines being sleeved annually through our unique Porsche engine conversion technique. Notably, the vast majority of Porsche engines modified by LN Engineering using our Nickies involve oversizes rather than the original bore sizes, demonstrating the effectiveness of our method in enhancing engine displacement and power well beyond the factory specifications of a Porsche engine. From the beginning, Flat 6 Innovations has exclusively employed LN Engineering's Nickies for all high-performance engine builds for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and the 911 models 996 and 997, underlining the trusted performance and reliability of our big bore engine conversions. LN Engineering also provides closed deck engine conversions for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models from the 996 and 997 series. While the majority of our clients opt for our traditional open deck Nickies Porsche engine conversions, which support displacements of up to 4.1 liters, there are specific situations where the decrease in cooling efficiency is considered an acceptable compromise for enhanced cylinder stability. For turbocharged Porsche engines, particularly those with M96 or M97 engines, a closed deck configuration offers advantages. Typically, we advise restricting the bore size to 99mm for supercharged or turbocharged Boxster, Cayman, and 911 engines equipped with Nickies. However, our closed deck conversion permits larger bore sizes up to 101mm, specifically tailored for forced induction setups. Additionally, for naturally aspirated engines requiring bore sizes greater than 102mm, we also offer closed deck conversions to maintain optimal strength and durability without compromise. Please call for pricing with pistons and for current lead time for our Nickies closed deck Porsche engine conversions. Learn More

Service applies to M96.03 and M96.05 engines.
